Are you the Potato or the Egg?

Good Morning, Team!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to dominate the shit out of this week!!

Have you heard the saying, “The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg”?

1) Never give up the driver’s seat. You always maintain the power and control to change your circumstances. No matter what’s going on around you, no one can ever control your Attitude and your Effort. Take ownership of your decision-making and actions. Blaming others only signals that you’re a passenger of your own life.

2) Be solution minded. Even when the circumstances appear (or are) bad, don’t wallow in it. Spending time complaining about the circumstance will not change the circumstance. Always maintain an abundance and solution-oriented mindset. If you only focus on finding a solution and block out everything else, you will find a solution.

3) Action alleviates anxiety. When a circumstance is making yoIt’s a quote that addresses two different opposing ways of responding to the same circumstance.

The quote has been top of mind for me lately as we all watch what’s happening to the housing market, inflation, a looming recession, a war between Russia and Ukraine that many are saying is on the same level as the Cuban Missle Crisis and other circumstances beyond your or my control.

We’re all experiencing the same circumstances of boiling water… The only question is, who’s going to be the potato and turn soft and mushy, and who’s going to be the egg and become hardened?

Here are three ways I have found to be massively helpful in staying on track to stacking wins even during times and circumstances that looked like the odds were against me.
u anxious, it’s because you’re worried about a painful outcome. Rather than sit idle and let the anxiety of future pain take over, start taking action. Even imperfect action is better than no action at all. If you combine #1 and #2 above while taking action, you will find that your anxiety will immediately begin to subside.

Those three rules are how even in some of the most challenging circumstances, I’ve continued to stack wins and keep adding to my momentum of success! In other words… it’s how I’ve become an egg rather than a potato.

And one other rule that I would add if your circumstance has been ongoing for some time, such as in a relationship or in your business, and it just hasn’t seemed to have gotten any better…

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you have taken the above three steps and are at a loss of what to do next, perhaps you have some blindspots and/or are in need of tools, resources, or feedback to help you. Find a good mentor, put your ego aside, and admit to yourself that if you knew the answers, you would’ve resolved the circumstance already.

That’s it for this week, Team.

Go forth and conquer,

Matt
