Are You Majoring in the Minors? Or Majoring in the Majors?

Happy Monday, Team!

Coming to you much later than normal due to handling a priority call this morning that overlapped with my time to write this email. Believe it or not, this is the first opening on my calendar to get back to finishing it up!

Today’s Mindset Message is on… Don’t Major in the Minors!

How many times have you asked someone how they’ve been and they reply, “Busy!”.

It’s a common response. And unfortunately, too many people are truly busy but aren’t really getting the kind of shit done that moves the needle.

That’s because there’s a BIG difference between being busy and being productive.

We live in a fast-paced and very demanding world. There are endless distractions with social media, meeting requests, world events, the economy, people who love drama and gossip, and the “good idea fairy” that shows up often as the next shiny object to chase.

Distractions have a fantastic way of pulling someone off course of their big-picture plans by way of shifting focus onto things that ultimately don’t really matter… aka Majoring in the Minors.

People who Major in the Minors often find themselves frustrated because they are busy all of the time, but have little to ever show for it.

That’s because being “busy” doesn’t mean you’re being productive.

Time and focus thieves are all around you. They are happy to keep you “busy” and could care less if you’re productive. These thieves love it when you’re Majoring in the Minors.

If you want to get a lot of important shit done and stay on track with reaching your goals, make sure you are Majoring in the Majors… If what you’re focused on isn’t moving you closer to your goals, ditch it… Immediately.

Guard your time and focus from the thieves of distraction and shit that doesn’t matter. Have clearly defined goals and deadlines you’ll reach them by. Set clear boundaries for the things you will and will not accept in your life. And have a “Burn the Boats” mindset of Victory or Death.

Then, the next time someone asks how you’re doing, respond with, “Productive AF”.

Go forth and conquer,

Matt
